About me

Hello, my name is Jackie, and I am an experienced, registered and accredited counsellor with over 18 years experience in a role I am passionate about.  You may have visited this website because you, a friend or loved one, is feeling unhappy, overwhelmed by life, struggling with  a particular life event, or difficult emotional issue, or simply feeling 'stuck'.  Taking the step of seeking counselling is courageous, and can sometimes feel frightening or confusing.  I am able to help you gently through this process, and together we can work towards meeting your own unique needs. I will offer you a safe, supportive, confidential space in which to explore your concerns and the things that matter most to you.

I have previous longstanding experience of setting up and running a successful Counselling Service for a local mental health charity.  I have a proven record of working with a wide range of the concerns that clients may bring to counselling including anxiety, depression, complex mental health issues, trauma and bereavement.   I offer therapy that is welcoming, non judgemental, empathetic and puts you, the client, at the heart of the process.

I know how important it is that both the therapy and the therapist suit your own unique needs.  With the cost of living rising I actively welcome clients who may want fortnightly sessions in order to spread the cost of therapy.

Please do text, phone or email me to discuss how I may be able to help.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

ACC
Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC)

The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
