About me

Why do we seek counselling?

The one constant in life is change and when it seems to move in ways we cannot control we might feel anxious, overwhelmed or fearful. When we are out of sync with the flow of life we can feel stuck, depressed or isolated. As a result of this we can feel the impact on our emotional and mental well-being and in personal, professional and relational lives. All these things and more can result in us looking for balance, integration and connection, as well as ways to explore more deeply who we are and our relationship to the world.

Do you want to live a more connected life?

In therapeutic sessions with me I will support you to bring attention to how emotions are felt and recognised in your body, noticed through the senses and lived in your daily life.

Do you want to to feel more hopeful about life in general?

I will work alongside you to help you notice how certain emotions are avoided, disowned and disavowed and to find creative ways to reintegrate them and relate to yourself more fully and healthily.

Do you want to feel more open, available and less restricted by old habits or limitations?

I will provide a space of presence, understanding and clarity to help you develop awareness around potential factors that limit your sense of self, personal worth and your capacity to grow beyond perceived limitations.

How can psychotherapeutic work with me make difference?

I will support you to become less bound by self-limiting patterns, such as excessive thinking, restrictive emotions and self-defeating behaviours. I will support you to identify and implement creative solutions to ongoing issues that seem out with your control. If you feel locked into cycles of heightened stress, anxiety and depression, as well as loneliness and trauma, I will work with you to create a compassionate space to gently process challenging experiences so you can get you back in touch with your authentic self. By exploring and transcending the various elements of your personal history that you have become identified with and limited by, I will support you towards healing, transformation and wholeness.

Further information

Gestalt Therapy:

My main approach to counselling is gestalt therapy which at its core upholds the value of the therapeutic relationship as a key aspect for healing and growth. The gestalt emphasis is on collaboration and working with immediate experience. The approach is holistic and draws upon a range of methods to meet our embodied self more fully, and to enable us to become more accepting of ongoing emotional and behaviour patterns and our responses to environment. Gestalt therapy informs my capacity to work with each client at the level of their experience, while staying attuned to the potential impact of their past in the present.

Contemplative Self-Inquiry: At certain points in life we might be drawn to pursue a deeper interest in who we are beyond our everyday concerns and personal history. I draw upon knowledge systems both ancient and modern to explore with compassion the relatedness of mind, body and awareness. I use resources from the worlds philosophical and wisdom traditions, especially the Vedic system, to support clients who are interested in gaining more insight and a wider perspective on their lives. My life long study and journey of self exploration informs the basis of my approach to deep self-inquiry
