About me
I am a qualified Psychologist and a UKATA and BACP registered Counsellor. I had my advanced clinical training in TA Psychotherapy practice. Before I trained to work as a counsellor, I worked as a psychologist in academia and have been working as a social researcher for the last twenty years in different organisations. I have substantial amount of expertise both in working with people from different backgrounds and in researching on a wide range of topics all very relevant to my client work.
I am trained in Transactional Analysis (TA) which is a form of modern psychology that aims to promote personal change and growth using a set of tools. The application of TA tools can be a very effective way of thinking about the unconscious processes that drive our thoughts, feelings and behaviours within any given situation and in all relationships.
If you are experiencing Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), depression, grief/loss, social anxiety and trauma, our mutually agreed treatment plan for your needs can help you gain your sense of self again so that you can start enjoying your life. Life is full of challenges and different phases of our lives bring their own issues with them. Working on our part when dealing with these difficulties will bring about significant changes to the way we relate to significant others in our lives. I can help you identify what is getting in the way so that you can work on eliminating them to have a more fulfilled life.
Building on our emotional literacy is a game changer. When we're able to tune into our own emotions and develop awareness of our 'emotional reference', we will become more aware of recognising it in others. This has a significant positive impact on improving our relationship with ourselves and with others, leading us having a more joyful and enjoyable life.
How to get started?
Please send me an initial email so we can set up a free-of-charge chat over the phone or an online platform. In this call, we will talk about what you would like to get out of counselling and how I can help you. If you decide from this you would like to continue, we can set up a second session and subsequently arrange either weekly or fortnightly sessions.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

UKATA (formally the Institute of Transactional Analysis) is the national UK Transactional Analysis organisation representing all fields of TA theory and practice. TA can be used as an effective tool in a wide range of contexts such as: personal development, management, coaching, counselling, psychotherapy, teaching, education, parenting and more.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Because of my own cultural background, I am interested in and have experience of working with clients on cultural identity related issues and challenges when addressing self-growth.
Furthermore, I worked as a volunteer counsellor for the charity Care for the Carers for over 4 years. As a result, I have a lot of experience around care giving challenges and the effects of the long term carer role on our mental health.
