About me

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to meet each person's individual needs. Whatever brings you to therapy, I aim to offer a warm, thoughtful, and non-judgemental space where we can explore things together at a pace that feels right for you.

I was drawn to counselling through a desire to better understand myself, my relationships with others, and the world around me. I've always been fascinated by people, their lives, and the age-old stories that shape who we become. Over time, that same curiosity became a wish to help others explore their own experiences, make sense of what they're carrying, and develop a deeper, more compassionate relationship  with themselves, and with others.

Outside the counselling room, I spend much of my time walking and exploring the natural world. I appreciate the chance to step away from the fast pace of everyday life and notice the details that are so easily overlooked. I find there is something restorative about the rhythm of walking, which often makes space for reflection and new perspective. This is one of the reasons I offer walk and talk sessions, which some people find a more natural and comfortable way to explore whatever is on their mind.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a particular interest in bereavement and loss, including the many forms of loss that can occur throughout life - not only following a death, but through changes in relationships, health, identity, work or life circumstances. I have also helped facilitate a local Death Café, creating space for open and thoughtful conversations about death, dying, grief and loss.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Alongside counselling, I am also a qualified massage therapist, having trained at the School of Bodywork in Exeter in 2020. I am very interested in the relationship between emotional and physical wellbeing, and in how our experiences can be felt and carried in the body.

I offer counselling and massage as separate services. Further information about both, including my approach, fees and availability, can be found on my website.
