About me

Feeling Overwhelmed, Stressed or Stuck? Therapy for Anxiety, Trauma and Emotional Stress.

You might look like you're coping on the outside but inside, things feel overwhelming, stuck or hard to make sense of. Perhaps you're dealing with anxiety that won't switch off, low mood that keeps returning, or something that's happened - recently or years ago - that affects how you feel, think or relate to others. You may find yourself overthinking, feeling on edge, struggling with confidence, or repeating patterns in relationships that you don't fully understand.

I work with adults who want more than just a space to talk - they want to understand what's going on and begin to feel different.

Together, we can gently explore what's behind these feelings, whether that's something current or rooted in past experiences. Where appropriate, I integrate approaches such as EMDR to help process difficult or distressing experiences so they feel less overwhelming and have less impact on your day-to-day life.

Clients often come to me feeling stuck and over time they begin to feel calmer, clearer and more in control of themselves and their choices.

I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly at your own pace. Some clients come for a short period to work through a specific issue, while others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns.

I am an Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor with almost 20 years experience working with adults across a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement and relationship issues.

Sessions are available in person (in Eastbourne town centre with good transport links and parking) or online via Zoom, including some flexible appointment times.

Before we meet, I offer an initial telephone consultation where we can talk through what you're looking for and ensure my approach is suitable for your requirements. This call is free of charge and usually lasts around 20-30 minutes. You're welcome to call, text or email to get in touch.

Thank you for looking at my profile.

Hilary.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
