About me
I am trained as a Gestalt counsellor. I chose Gestalt because it worked with all the parts of a person, it understood that a persons history was important and so was their present and future. It understood and worked with the ways in which emotions and pain could be felt in the body and how to use a bodily awareness to address some of these deep seated emotional pains. I have seen first hand how useful therapy can be for physical as well as emotional pain, how it can help to develop a greater understanding of oneself and help you use that understanding to change patterns of behaviour and offer new avenues of self exploration and expression. The work we will undertake will be client centred, meaning that I understand that you are the expert in you and that my role is to facilitate a space that is safe enough that we can explore whatever it is you want to bring. All areas of you and your life are important and welcome in the space and the more we develop your awareness of yourself and your patterns the more secure and accepting you can hopefully become. Everyone can benefit from counselling, and counselling benefits from being for everyone. This space is inclusive to all, and to anyone who is ready to take that first difficulty step towards seeking help.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Counselling from the Gestalt Centre and have worked on the Gestalt Therapy Scheme for the past three years.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

A free 20 minute phone call is available to get a feel for what our work together could look like. Trust can take a while to build but its important to find someone you feel comfortable with and this is a good way to get a sense of that. If you decide you would like to continue working together we can discuss what the work will look like and how to schedule our future sessions.
