About me

My training is in humanistic integrative counselling- this means I work with several theoretical ideas: psychodynamic, person-centred, existential, transactional analysis and few other tools. Fundamentally I will sit down with you, listen and we'll work together towards making change in your life. We'll explore what's troubling you- whether it's relationship difficulties, abuse, depression, anxiety, disordered eating, addiction, grief, loss or stress. We might try to disentangle your thoughts and feelings, reframe events that have caused you suffering or talk through decisions you might want to make. I believe that our therapeutic relationship is the key to creating therapy that works- it's foundational. In that way I understand that you may wish to work together for a few sessions before reviewing our work and making a longer commitment.

My aim is to offer an authentic, warm, and safe space, free from judgment where we can really meet one another. I always hope that our work will create an opportunity for acceptance or meaningful change.

Get in touch if you're curious. Note that it's better to drop me an email or text first as I'm often unable to answer my phone.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm a BACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor with over 8yrs clinical experience. I began counselling for a charity who specialise in working with complex clients suffering with substance/alcohol misuse issues in 2016. I now divide my time between assessing and supervising for the charity in addition to my own private practice. I undertook a year long counselling supervision training in 2023 and have completed CPD including; working with trauma, eating disorders, generalised anxiety disorder and existential theory.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
