About me

This page is here for you to get a feel of who I am and what I am offering you. Firstly it is important that you know our work is personalised to you and that the therapy I offer is a collaboration between us. At the heart of what I offer is a space where you feel seen and heard, where we explore together what you are struggling with, and what might be realised within your struggle as potential and possibility.

What brings someone to therapy is always a unique set of circumstances that are variable and deeply personal to you.

My role is to work with you as a whole person, appreciating and attending to all the different parts of who you are. Together we will co-create the safety you need to tell your story and explore what is important to you. To support this I use an integrative humanistic approach, this means we will consider your unique experience and perspective, including all facets of your body, feelings, mind and spirit in an understanding of who you are. Working holistically I draw from many different schools of thought on wellbeing and self discovery.

Reaching out for help is the first step towards gaining insight and working out what you might need at this time. Sitting with another human being who is offering to listen, support and connect with you can offer space to unpack and explore your challenging situation.

I have experience with a range of issues including: depression, self-esteem, anxiety and stress, addictions, bereavement, panic attacks, unresolved trauma, family and relationship concerns, career and life choices, and questions of spirituality and meaning.

Next steps

After an initial contact by email or phone we will make an appointment as soon as we can. The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and get to know each other. It will be a space for us to explore what you are struggling with, at times there might be more than one issue present. At the end of this session we should have a good feel of whether we want to work together and continue with further sessions.

I offer both long and short term therapy however we would initially agree to work for 6 sessions.

My Approach

I am an Integrative psychosynthesis psychotherapeutic counsellor and creative arts facilitator.  As a relational, creative therapist we will undertake the journey to find what really matters to you and what might be holding you back.

It is my belief that therapy is not limited to the exploration of suffering and adversity, the process may also include:

  • Learning to see yourself with love and compassion
  • Deepening an understanding of how to develop more meaningful and intimate relationships with yourself and others.
  • Unlearning unhelpful patterns of behaviour and relating.
  • Learning to face what frightens you in support of your growth and development
  • Cultivating curiosity, creativity, awareness and spontaneity
  • Seeing difficulties and challenges as both painful and as potential sources of meaning, value and purpose.
  • Connecting to the wisdom of your body, sensations, thoughts and emotions.
  • Discovering how people pleasing and disowning your needs might be getting in the way
  • Building rituals and practices that support your health and wellbeing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
