About me

Hello. I am Helen, a Person Centred Counsellor working in the Chorlton area of South Manchester. I offer outdoor walk and talk therapy to people 18 years and over in Chorlton Water Park. I believe in the healing ability of nature and feel that being outside can enhance the experience of Therapeutic Counselling. We can walk and talk or find a quiet spot to sit and work on issues that you bring to the session in natural surroundings.

I offer my counselling skills to support you to explore and work with difficulties such as anxiety, stress, low mood, adapting to change, struggles with self-esteem, identity, grief and loss and addiction issues (yourself or someone important to you). We can work together to discuss the challenges you are facing in life with the hope that you can gain deeper insight, explore ways to change or resolve things if that is possible, find acceptance and an increased sense of peace with your situation.

You will be listened to in a non-judgmental, compassionate way with your best interests being at the heart of all we discuss. I will not usually give advice or offer solutions as I believe that through the counselling process you will tune in more fully to your own personal inner wisdom and and through this trust that you will make the right choices for you. My role will be to use person centred counselling skills to support you in a deeper exploration of your core self with the goal being to find the right next steps I your life.

I genuinely, wholeheartedly believe in the power of a good therapeutic relationship facilitating positive change in our lives. I am passionate about Counselling and really believe it enhances our ability to move forward towards achieving the best quality of life for ourselves with our given circumstances.

If you have a dog I am happy to discuss the possibility of bringing it along to outdoor sessions.

I  work outsidw all year round and offer sunrise sessions in spring and Summer months.

If you would like to know more about what I can offer, please email me and we can arrange to have a free discussion. This will give you a chance ask questions, share any worries you may have about starting counselling and find out what you hope to get from the counselling journey.

The cost is £40 pounds for a one-hour outdoor or online session.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
