About me

I provide therapy, counselling, EMDR, NLP and therapeutic coaching to people who want support and help to make changes to their lives. I specialise in anxiety, stress, PTSD, trauma, fear, panic disorders and depression, although often, I find that several areas of difficulty overlap as life, in reality, is not compartmentalsed. My expertise is in working with the whole of a person and helping them untangle difficult knots in thinking, feeling and behaviours. I can help people determine whether they need counselling or, perhaps, when a session or two of coaching might help move them forward. In developing a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships to themselves, others and their external world clients can free themselves up to be more of the person they feel they truly are or want to become. Sometimes this will entail looking at their belief systems and behaviours and often involves finding their own power and sense of self. I believe that being genuinely interested in people's story and wanting the best for them allows them to feel safe enough to explore the more challenging aspects of their lives and I am keen to support them through the entire process of change.

I offer EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing) as an effective method for safely releasing traumatic memories and NLP for helping to change beliefs and thought patterns and behaviours.

The work can be of a set and short duration, or deeper on-going therapy, dependent upon what the client thinks will work best for them. I aim, always, to work in an empathic, confidentiality and non-judgemental way that allows my clients to feel safe and welcomed.

Sessions are available online and in person at my office in Gillingham,  Dorset .

Training, qualifications & experience

PGDip. Integrative Counselling & Coaching, BSc(Hons), Dip Trauma therapy. EMDR. NLP.

I began work in the mental health field in 1991 working in a Therapeutic Residential Care Home for adults. I have since managed other similar projects in Cambridge, Sheffield and Somerset. After a career change, in which I created and ran an Interior Design and Feng Shui business for 10 years, I build my own specialist therapeutic private practice,  working with trauma, anxiety and depression which is founded upon more of a holistic approach and encompassing my broadened understanding of people's relationship with themselves, others, and their environment.

I have spent 20 years training and developing a personal practice in many aspects of various spiritual ideologies from around the world; with training in India, Germany and Ireland as well as in England.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
