About me
Our journeys in life can be full of mixed emotions and sometimes we need support to navigate and understand the paths we find ourselves on.
I'm a qualified Integrative Counsellor, providing Person-centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) models of working, finding a way forward to suit your unique needs, for long or short term therapy.
I offer an empathic and compassionate approach to online sessions, coming alongside you to ensure you feel safe, heard and valued, providing you with time and space to understand the challenges you are facing, while rediscovering your inner voice.
I work in a holistic way, looking to establish a good therapeutic relationship with you to start. Together we explore your core areas of functioning (relational, physical, emotional, volitional/behavioural, rational and spiritual), addressing each area, to bring deeper understanding and self-awareness to your situation.
I am able to help you explore your experiences growing up, reflecting on how you've navigated life so far, as well as focus given to how your thoughts, feelings and actions work together, increasing awareness of your core beliefs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), working within the BACP Ethical Framework. I regularly develop my knowledge, skills and experience by attending Continuing Professional Development (CPD) learning, which includes building my experience of working creatively with clients.
I have regular Supervision to support my work with clients for several Counselling agencies and within Private Practice.
I have experience of working with grief and loss, anxiety and depression, low self-esteem and self-confidence, personal & family relationships, navigating health issues, trauma and those facing a crisis.
My experience of coming alongside those struggling, began when I volunteered and worked for several Crisis Pregnancy charities in London over 20 years ago, which grew my heart for those in crisis.
Following my personal journey of loss, at a pivotal point in my life and finding bereavement counselling to be instrumental to understanding the grief journey, I decided to embark on further training to support others:
- CPCAB Counselling Skills (Levels 2), Tunbridge Wells
- CPCAB Counselling Studies (Level 3), Tunbridge Wells
- Diploma of Higher Education in Counselling (Levels 4 & 5), Middlesex University in collaboration with Waverley Abbey College
- Certificate in Online & Telephone Counselling
Along with my experience of working within a range of different fields, I combine my skills to work more effectively with clients.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
