About me

Do you feel like something needs to change?

Are you feeling anxious, stuck, low or overwhelmed and are not sure where to turn? Perhaps something specific has happened such as a loss, a big change or a falling-out, or maybe you just don’t feel like yourself anymore. It could be that you have always felt that something is not quite right.

Whatever you’re going through, you don’t have to try and work it out on your own. I’m here to listen without judgement, support you and help you make sense of things.

How can counselling help?

Counselling offers a safe and confidential space to talk things through without judgement or pressure. It can help you understand yourself more deeply, explore your feelings and see things from a new perspective. Every session is all about you. We can look at what’s going on in your life and explore how it’s affecting you. This can bring relief, a greater sense of self-trust and more confidence just to be yourself.

What I offer

I’m a qualified Person-Centred counsellor, offering a calm, confidential space where you can explore whatever’s on your mind at your own pace. My approach is rooted in empathy, honesty and respect. I won’t tell you what to do. Instead, I’ll offer unconditional support, ask thoughtful questions and stay alongside you as we explore what’s feeling difficult and what might help. Together, we will build the confidence you need to understand yourself, trust yourself and be yourself in your life and in your relationships with other people.

A bit about me

I specialise in one-to-one adult counselling. Counselling can help at any age and I firmly believe that it’s never too late to make a change. I have a particular interest and experience in the challenges that parenting children of any age can bring, and how complex family dynamics can impact people’s wellbeing (for example blended families, estrangement from parents and communication difficulties between family members). I have also worked with clients who have experienced baby loss, pregnancy, birth and post-natal difficulties, and people who support others but struggle to prioritise themselves.

Clients often tell me that they feel safe, seen and understood in our sessions. I bring warmth, genuineness and a down-to-earth presence to our work together.

Next steps

If any of this resonates with you, please feel free to get in touch. I offer a free 15-minute phone call to see if we might be a good fit. There is no pressure, just a chance to talk and discuss what you feel you want to gain from counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and my work adheres to their ethical framework.

I am a fully qualified and registered practitioner with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I also hold a degree in Post-16 Education and Training (BA hons) and have many years of experience teaching and supporting adult learners of all ages and abilities.

I am qualified to Stage 2 in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, a form of therapy that can help form and repair connections in relationships.

Additional Training

TA101 Certificate (Transactional Analysis)

An internationally recognised introduction to Transactional Analysis, exploring communication patterns, relationship dynamics and the ways we relate to ourselves and others. This training has deepened my understanding of client behaviour and supports my work in helping people make meaningful change.

I hold professional indemnity insurance and I am DBS checked.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

How long are the sessions and how long do I have to come for?

Sessions are 1 hour long and ideally take place each week (usually on the same day and time). This continuity is important in counselling to build and maintain the therapeutic relationship. I offer both long and short term therapy. We would discuss what your goals are (what you want to gain from your counselling sessions) and have regular reviews to make sure you feel that you are on track. You may find that a few sessions are enough, or that you would like to come for longer. This is something that we can work out together.
