About me
Hello, and thank you for visiting.
My name is Hassanah, and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist registered with the BACP. I understand that taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, and finding the right therapist is an important part of the process.
I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever aspects of life may be troubling you. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, loss, overwhelm, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, I aim to provide a space where you feel genuinely heard and understood.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process, built on trust, honesty, and the therapeutic relationship. My role is not to tell you how to live your life, but to walk alongside you as we explore your experiences, relationships, challenges, and hopes.
My approach is integrative, drawing on person-centred, relational and existential approaches. In practice, this means I work flexibly with your individual needs rather than applying a single model to every person. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and together we can develop a deeper understanding of the patterns, experiences, and relationships that have shaped you.
Alongside compassion and support, I also value gentle challenge where helpful. At times, therapy may involve exploring difficult emotions, questioning familiar ways of thinking, or considering new perspectives. My aim is always to do this within a safe, respectful, and supportive therapeutic relationship.
Through authentic human connection and exploration, I hope to create a space where you can develop greater self-awareness, understanding, and insight, creating opportunities for healing, growth, and meaningful change.
Training, qualifications & experience
My professional training includes a Postgraduate Certificate (Distinction) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy (Level 7), both completed at the University of South Wales. My training is grounded in Integrative Psychotherapy, drawing on person-centred, relational and existential approaches.
Prior to retraining as a psychotherapist, I completed a BA (Hons) in Journalism and Politics, which fostered a longstanding interest in human experience, relationships and the wider social contexts that shape our lives.
Alongside my core psychotherapy training, I have undertaken continuing professional development (CPD) in Bereavement Counselling and Pre-Trial Therapy through YCS Counselling.
My clinical experience has been gained through working with adult clients within a low-cost counselling service, including clients referred through specialist support services for those affected by crime and trauma. I have supported individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, low self-worth, and significant life transitions.
Alongside my clinical work, I have established my own private practice, where I continue to work from an integrative, relational, and existential perspective. I engage in regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
