About me
Hi, I'm Harriet, 'the functional therapist.' That is, therapy tailored to you which is compassionate, practical and guided by you. My service supports individuals struggling with their mental health, and I work with a broad range of conditions such as depression, low self-esteem, anxiety disorders (panic, OCD, social anxiety, specific phobias and health anxiety), stress, PTSD/trauma and body dysmorphic disorder.
I am also able to adapt my practice to support individuals with physical health conditions and the difficulties this can understandably have on mental health. Together, we may explore changes to your sense of identity, your life values, and unhelpful thinking and behaviours which may be preventing you from moving forwards.
In a typical first session we’ll talk about what you’ve been finding difficult, what you’d like to gain out of therapy, and how I can best support you.

Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 15 years experience supporting adults with their mental health. I am BABCP accredited in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I also use techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
I have a Masters in Clinical Psychology and a degree in Psychology.
I have also completed training in long-term health conditions, which helps me to adapt my CBT approach to better support people living with physical health challenges. With this understanding, I can offer support in navigating the emotional impact of a diagnosis, exploring what matters most to you, and noticing patterns of thinking that may be keeping you feeling stuck, low and anxious. Together, we can work at your pace to help you move forward in a way that feels manageable and meaningful.
