About me
Are you finding things difficult right now? Please don’t feel like you have to face it alone – I’m here to support you. My name is Harj, and I’m a compassionate, qualified counsellor and I work in a relaxed and friendly way to help you feel comfortable and heard. I am a registered member of the BACP and combine my private practice with my role as a specialist counsellor for the NHS.
Asking for help often means you’ve been trying to cope with too much for too long. Sometimes what we need most is someone who will truly listen. I offer you just that - a place where you can talk freely, feel listened to and understood, and know you are accepted just as you are.
How I Can Support You
I’ve supported people through all kinds of experiences, and I’m here for you too.
- Perhaps you’re feeling stressed and finding it hard to manage everything that is going? Maybe you’re anxious or overwhelmed by all that life is asking of you?
- Do you feel misunderstood or like you don’t quite belong? Are you feeling lost or weary from all the masking just to get through the day?
- Are you finding yourself feeling like you’re not good enough and struggling with low self-esteem?
- Do you feel stuck, lost or unsure about the direction of your life? Is pain from the past making moving forward in life difficult for you?
Are the challenges of being ADHD, autistic, or dyslexic overwhelming at times? - Are you noticing that the changes brought on by menopause might be making things feel even harder?
- Are you feeling the pain of bereavement over someone you loved? Or perhaps you’re grieving the loss of something else important to you?
You don't have to handle it by yourself - support is here when you are ready. So whether you’re facing something new or something that has been with you for a while, I’m here to help you make sense of it and to support you as you find your way forward.
How We Can Work Together
In our sessions, I’ll blend different approaches to provide a personalised experience that feels right for you and meets your needs. We’ll work together gently and compassionately to explore what’s going on in a way that works best way for you. As a humanistic counsellor, I am committed to truly understanding you and building a genuine, supportive relationship you trust. I believe you know yourself best. I'll encourage you to recognise and trust your expertise to find your way forward and feel confident in the choices you make.
Everyone Is Welcome
Everyone deserves to feel valued, safe and truly like they belong. This is why I am committed to creating a supportive, inclusive space where adults from all backgrounds, including those with neurodivergent needs, feel genuinely welcome. Drawing on personal experience, professional training and my work with clients who are ADHD, autistic or dyslexic, I have created an inclusive, neurodivergent-friendly practice that understands and actively support your individual needs. Here is a space where it is okay to be different - a place to be yourself, a space where you belong and where I am committed to truly understanding you.
Finding the right counsellor matters, and it’s okay to take your time with it. You’re welcome to learn more about me and how I work on my website. If you’d like, we can set up a free 30-minute chat to get to know each other, touch on what brings you to counselling and to see if we are good fit to work together. Feel free to reach out—I’d love to hear from you.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a specialist counsellor in end-of-life and bereavement care for the NHS at a hospice, supporting individuals through some of life's most challenging transitions. Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
It is important that you find a counsellor that suits you. I offer a free 30 minute introductory session. This gives us a chance to get to know each other, touch on what brings you to counselling and to see if we are good fit to work together. If we decide to work together, our work can be short term or longer term open-ended therapy. Our sessions will generally be 1 hour weekly and can take place face to face, over the telephone or online. I offer both daytime and evening sessions.
We can arrange your first session whenever you are ready. We will contract to work together so that we both have a clear understanding of expectations. The first session is a little different as it is an assessment session. During this session, I will ask more questions than usual so that I can gain a deeper understanding of you, your life and your needs. During the assessment session, I will ask you questions like:
What has brought you to counselling now?
What do you want from counselling?
What would you like to know about counselling sessions?
From then on, our sessions are led by you and are yours to use in the way that feels most helpful. You can decide on the issues you wish to explore and the pace at which you wish to tackle them. I will maintain clear boundaries and confidentiality to create a safe space where you can speak openly about whatever is on your mind.
Feel free to get in touch for further information. I look forward to speaking to you.
