About me
"Even though freedom can sometimes feel scarier than our familiar prisons.....the soul will not be silenced." (Martina Lehane Sheehan)
I know that it often takes a lot of courage to seek support and it can be challenging to open up and face some of the feelings we may be trying hard to keep a lid on. And yet at the same time, there is a part of us that wants things to be different and to get out of our 'familiar prisons', whether that be difficult relationship dynamics, experiences from our past, patterns of behaviour, or feelings we just can't make sense of.
I am an experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and my aim is to provide a safe environment where we can navigate the questions and feelings you have to empower you to move forward in your life in a healthy way. I believe that understanding ourselves non-judgementally and with compassion is vital to cultivate positive mental health and growth, whatever our circumstances.
My core training is in Transactional Analysis but I also draw from other approaches, and I have been in private practice offering psychotherapy and counselling since 2015. I have worked with numerous clients over that time from a range of backgrounds and believe that what we all have in common is a desire to be fully heard and not to feel alone. When we feel understood and listened to we are in a better place to hear ourselves more clearly and can take in healthy support from those around us to move forward in our lives in new ways.
I am able to offer support with a variety of issues including (but not limited to) stress, anxiety, trauma, challenges around attachment, relationship issues, depression, low self esteem and bereavement/loss. I also enjoy working with people who may not describe themselves as having any major challenges, but are wanting to understand more about themselves to enable growth and an increased sense of fulfilment in their lives.
I work with people who have issues that are more in the here and now, as well as with people who have felt a certain way (eg. anxious/low mood) for much of their lives.
My practice is based in south Liverpool. I work with adult individuals, over both the short term (a few weeks - a few months) and long term (months - years).

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
