About me

I am a registered counselling psychologist with over 10 years experience of working with people with a range of difficulties from mild to severe and enduring.

As a counselling psychologist, I draw upon a variety of evidence based models in order to support you in the most effective way. Trained in humanistic, psychodynamic, CBT, mindfulness and EMDR. This means I can deliver treatment that is specifically designed for your needs.

Experienced across a variety of settings (young people’s services, charities such as Mind, NHS). I currently work within a specialist NHS acute care service in a leading University Hospital as well as working across a critical care ward during the pandemic providing frontline psychological support and consultation. Alongside this, I have a private practice for adults and young people.

As a practitioner psychologist, I will clinically assess and collaboratively formulate a bespoke treatment plan in order to support you in your therapeutic goals. I see therapy as a collaborative process where we work together to create lasting change and increased well-being.

I offer therapy for a range of issues, including (but not limited to) anxiety, abuse, depression, eating disorders, trauma (inc. PTSD and complex presentations), bereavement, self-esteem and stress, for example, as well as couples therapy. It may be that you can't quite identify what feels 'wrong' and would like help with this.

As a Counselling Psychologist who has completed a clinical practitioner doctorate, you can be assured you will be working with a highly trained professional (min. 6 years full time training) who is regulated by the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council).

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

What is a Counselling Psychologist?

Counselling psychologists are 'practitioner psychologists', a title protected by law, unlike the terms counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist. Only those who have completed the recognised and accredited qualifications are able to use this title. Practitioner psychologists must be registered with the HCPC in order to practice. You can check the HCPC register in order to see if a professional is registered and therefore satisfies HCPC standards for professional skills and training.
