About me
I have tried to use this space to give you some information on myself, my practice and what I offer my clients. However, if you have any questions or would like to have an informal chat on whether counselling is right for you, please get in touch.
Therapy provides us a unique space to explore our experiences with empathy, acceptance and support. I offer a warm and confidential space that aims to make you feel listened to and understood.
For some, coming to therapy can be a very uncomfortable thing to do. For others, it is a relief to have access to a place to share. Either way, my aim will always be to hold space for every aspect of a person’s experience and to treat what is shared with care and respect.
Therapy can help to:
- Process a traumatic event, such as a bereavement or relationship breakdown
- Create better relationships with others and ourselves by helping us to build better boundaries.
- Establish better coping mechanisms which help us to heal, while gently loosening our grip on unhelpful ones.
- Learn to tolerate discomfort and withstand what we cannot control.
I work in a person-centred, non-directive style, meaning you will be in charge of the process, and may in time find yourself growing in understanding, confidence and developing a greater sense of control.
The beauty of seeing a private therapist is it gives you more options to tailor the work to your needs; whether this is engaging for a longer or shorter period, working in a fluid exploratory way or a more structured process, or focussing on one thing or many. I do my best to make this process as helpful to you as possible.
My practices draw on philosophy from Psychodynamic Therapy, Behavioural Therapies, Humanistic Therapies. I am also often inspired by social and political theories such as body positivity/neutrality and feminism. I aim to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere to all, and, as a Queer person, I may be able to sit with the nuances of queerness in a way others may not be.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I hope this has given you some insight into myself and my practice. However, in my opinion it is the relationship that is the most important factor in counselling. If you would like to have an informal chat to see if we would work well together drop me and email and we can set up a call.
