About me
Welcome, my name is Hali. I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, and offer open-ended, both short & long term in-person counselling sessions across West Dorset, East Devon & West-Kent. I also offer online/telephone counselling across the UK to ensure accessibility & flexibility for all.
I am a registered member of the BACP - The British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy, as well as an accredited registrant member of the NCPS - National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society and work within their ethical frameworks. I am a member of the ICO and have an Enhanced DBS.
I work integratively as a counsellor, which means that together, you and I can discover the type of therapy that works best for you. My main training is in Person-Centred Counselling, which is a collaborative approach, where we work together. As a Person-Centred Counsellor, through empathic understanding, honesty, acceptance and providing a safe space free of judgement, you as the client are encouraged to discover and explore your own capacity for self-healing and personal growth.
It may be that you are at a crossroads in life, going through some life changes, suffering a bereavement, experiencing grief/loss, anxiety or depression, or are perhaps feeling low, lost or depleted and not sure why. It can be daunting to book that first session, especially if you haven't had counselling before, but taking that leap of faith, prioritising your self-care and having the self-awareness to ask for help is the first step on your healing journey and one that I would be truly humbled to share with you.
This is your space, where I will walk alongside you, working with you, at a pace that suits you, to process any underlying thoughts and emotions and help you to find clarity, understanding and acceptance.
What can you as the client expect in our first session together?
In our first session together, we will talk through your assessment form which will have been emailed to you prior to our first session. This provides me with a more detailed account of what brings you to therapy, including any health conditions, family history and any other relevant information which would be helpful for me to know.
We shall also go though the counselling agreement, after which the session is then yours to use as you wish and is your space entirely to speak freely and in confidence.
How many counselling sessions do I offer?
I offer both long-term/open-ended and short-term therapy. There isn't a limit to the number of counselling sessions that you can have with myself. I often suggest we begin our counselling journey together with a minimum of six sessions, and then review this regularly. The frequency can also be decided between ourselves.
If you wished to discontinue sessions at any point in the process, that is your decision entirely. I would ask that you let me know this, so that we can bring the sessions to a safe ending.
What medium of counselling do I offer? In person/online/telephone?
I offer all three options of counselling, in-person sessions/online and via the telephone, to offer flexibility to all, regardless of where you may be based.
For my in-person sessions, I practice from Poundbury-Dorchester, Axminster-East-Devon & from Sevenoaks-West-Kent.
