About me

When the pop psychology and self help affirmations start to feel hollow, it might be time to consider counselling.

I have worked in frontline services dealing with a variety of issues such as homelessness, offending behaviour, severe and enduring mental health (acute and forensic) and problematic substance use for over twenty years first as a case worker then as a service manager.

Working with me you will receive a professional and confidential service. I am a warm and empathic practitioner, but I will also challenge you by reflecting to you your discrepancies. I will make clear from the outset, that I will not solve your problems, but I will support you to change the relationship with your distress.

Although I originally trained in person centred counselling, I have a broad portfolio of continuous professional development which means I am not restricted to just one modality and now includes Psychodynamic, Systemic and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Post qualifying, I have worked with both individuals and couples, experiencing a variety of issues: anxiety, bereavement, building trust, communication, complex grief, depression, fertility issues, infidelity, problematic substance use, self-esteem, severe and enduring mental health and workplace issues and stress.

Call me for a free 15 minute consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BA in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Warwick.

Post qualification, my professional development has included contextual behavioural approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Furthermore, I have had additional training in psychodynamic and systemic approaches that is used in relational therapy and work with couples.

My background is in frontline services dealing with complex needs, such as, housing, addiction, mental health and criminal justice.

I also have an academic interest in employee wellbeing and have an MA in Human Resources Management from De Montfort University

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
