About me

Hi, my name’s George, and I’ve been offering my counselling services since 2014, gaining over 11 years of experience, working in a variety of settings and with many wonderful people of all different ages and backgrounds. I provide my counselling services face-to-face, online, or over the phone.

Alongside counselling, I’ve also been involved in mental health and well-being support across North Somerset. This combination of roles has helped me get to know the local support networks and deepen my understanding of mental health and wellbeing recovery. I believe this experience has helped me better support my clients, and I’d love the chance to do the same for you if you choose to work with me.

My office is in Worle, which is easy to reach from Weston-Super-Mare, Clevedon, Portishead, and many other areas in North Somerset.

Areas of support

Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of subjects that bring people to counselling, but I have a particular interest in:

Anxiety and Depression
Anger Management
Bereavement and Loss
Job Concerns
Low Confidence and Self-Worth
A lost sense of purpose or direction
Relationship Difficulties
Understanding and Expressing Emotions
Stress (exams, work, new roles, etc.)

My Counselling Approach

I primarily work from a humanistic counselling perspective. This approach is all about seeing you as a whole person rather than focusing solely on your problems. It emphasises your capacity for growth and self-healing, and I believe that by creating a supportive, non-judgmental space, you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. We’ll work together to help you gain more self-awareness and clarity about what’s happening in your life, and how you might want to move forward.

One of the key principles of the humanistic approach is that you are the expert on your own experience. My role isn’t to tell you what to do, but to help you explore what’s going on for you and to support you in finding your own way forward. It’s a very client-led process, which means we go at your pace and focus on what’s most important to you.

At the same time, I’m flexible in my approach, and I sometimes draw on other therapeutic methods if they feel more suited to what you need at the moment. Every person is unique, and I believe it’s important to tailor the counselling to what works best for you.

The Counselling Space

I work from a cosy, purpose-built counselling cabin at my home in Worle. Many clients have mentioned that it feels more relaxing than a formal office, offering a calming space where they can open up and feel at ease.

Qualifications and Ethics

I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and accredited by The National Counselling Society (MNCS). I follow their ethical guidelines to make sure I’m offering the best possible support. My counselling qualifications are in the section below.

How to Get Started

I offer an initial 1-hour consultation for £40, which is a chance for us to talk about what brings you to counselling, answer any questions you might have, and help you decide if I’m the right counsellor for you. We can do this over the phone or in person at my office in Worle, Weston-Super-Mare.

Testimonials from Google:

"I have always found George to be friendly, personable as well as a very good listener, he digests what you say and considers his responses carefully, more often than not he will respond in a way that makes you sit back and think about yourself and your situation. He likes to challenge your perceptions and causes you to stretch and grow. Working with him has always been a complete pleasure and I can honestly say I have enjoyed my time under his care."

"I found George online and after reading through his website, I realised I'd found my guy. Upon meeting with George he was able to quickly establish my needs and what he could offer me. I found talking with George very easy and comfortable. His knowledge of a vast array of different areas meant that he could pick a person centred approach and through dialogue find out exactly where I resonate. I have found my time with him extremely useful and I would highly recommend his services. Even if your not entirely sure what your after I am confident george would be able to help you navigate through to a more informed decision as he did with me. I felt very comfortable at ease in all sessions and I feel I have gained a lot more tools to use in future. Thanks again George."
