About me

Hi I'm Gareth, an experienced and professional therapeutic counsellor & supervisor, with a BSc Hons in Counselling and Psychotherapy, I have registered membership of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) & have accredited membership of the National Counsellors & Psychotherapists Society. I also hold Post-Graduate training as a supervisor utilising the seven eyed model.

I work with clients who may be having difficulties from the past, painful experiences in the present, or worries about the future that have left them distressed and feeling as though they can't cope with day-to-day life. I offer professional therapy for a range of issues including:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • addiction
  • self esteem
  • trauma
  • abuse
  • bereavement/loss
  • anger
  • relationship issues
  • identity.

The counselling service that I offer provides you with a safe and non-judgemental environment for you to talk through your difficulties and issues to find closure, work towards goals of self actualisation, personal acceptance, and resolution in the comfortable, confidential safe space of Springfield House on Albert Street in Hebden Bridge or via my internet counselling service, (Google Meets or Whatsapp).

Sessions are based on an integrative approach, and are focused and directed by you, the client. As an integrative counsellor I utilise many approaches during the counselling process such as Person-Centred, C.B.T. (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), T.A., (Transactional Analysis) & I.E.M.T. (a form of eye movement therapy). During each session, I work alongside you with an empathic, congruent and understanding mind, facilitating your journey of self exploration and building self understanding, self awareness, self worth and self confidence.

COUNSELLING WORK

  • 60 minute, one to one session - £60
  • 75 minute sessions, Couples -£80
  • (Concessionary rates can be discussed)

Your introductory session is as important a session as all your sessions as it will allow us to determine the focus and goal of your sessions, discuss the contract between ourselves and most importantly! get to know each other for the first time. Please call me on 07770 635046 or email me. I aim to respond within 48 hours, if you enquire by email, then don’t forget to check your spam folder for my reply.

SUPERVISION WORK

  • Student Counsellors-                                                                                        £35 45 minute Fortnightly Session                                                                £65 1.5 Hr Monthly Session
  • Qualified Counsellors                                                                                       £80 1.5Hr  Monthly Session

The work we do together in our supervisor/supervisee relationship is there to give you the supervisee the confidence in the work that you do, to help you grow, question yourself and challenge yourself with a knowledge that you will have someone to turn to, to work through your caseload with a belief and knowledge that you have a person to help you when you question yourself whilst we create a space for your reflection, growth and support.

I utilise the many models which I have been trained in over my time as a counsellor alongside the seven eyed model which I was trained in at post grad level at The Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy.

If you're looking for a supervisor please feel free to reach out and contact me to make a connection and discuss your needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
