About me
Hi,
My name is Gareth,
If difficulties from the past, painful experiences in the present, or worries about the future leave you distressed and feeling as though you can't cope with day-to-day life, then my counselling service can provide an opportunity for you to talk through your difficulties and issues to find closure and resolution in the comfortable, confidential safe space of the Hebden Bridge Therapy Centre or via my internet counselling service.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak and its subsequent lockdown, Hebden Counselling has been offering its service online using ZOOM following government guidelines and B.A.C.P. recommendations.
As Lockdown slowly eases and working within both an ethical and legal framework and after completing a full risk assessment, we are now beginning to move appropriately towards seeing clients face to face once more, whilst maintaining an online service.
My counselling practice aims to provide a safe and non-judgemental environment in which clients can work towards goals of self actualisation and personal acceptance
Sessions are based upon the approach of Person-Centred, meaning they are focused on and directed by you, the client, but as an integrative counsellor I do also utilise other approaches during the counselling process. During each session, I work alongside you with an empathic, congruent and understanding mind, facilitating your journey of self exploration and building self understanding, self awareness, self worth and self confidence.
60 minute session – One to one - £30-£40, 75 minute sessions - couples - £50-£60, (sliding scale based on income)
Your introductory session is free. This will allow us to determine the focus and goal of your sessions, discuss the contract between ourselves and determine the exact cost of your sessions.
I offer professional therapy for a range of issues including
- depression
- anxiety
- addiction
- self esteem
- trauma
- abuse
- bereavement/loss
- anger
- relationship issues
- identity

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
