About me
Making the first step to seek help is not easy. I want to hear about your concerns and see if you feel comfortable to work with me.
Andy said of therapy with me: " I unpicked what was going on and then things clicked into place - thank you, it has changed my life"
Post-Covid we are in a new world which is posing demanding changes for us all. Increased anxiety, feeling sad, self-esteem and life changes are all increasing.
I offer counselling and therapy to adults and young people feeling they need support to understand their lives and how to respond to the challenges we face.
I believe therapy can help navigate, heal and find meaning in our personal mental health and well-being.
I find every person unique and interesting. I would like to hear from you if you feel therapy may be able to assist. I a a better person due to the therapy I have had.
I am based in Glossop but see people from Tameside, Derbyshire and Stockport. I offer an initial free consultation to see if you feel comfortable.
I am interested in working with Adults, men's mental health, working with young people, and working with NHS and Social Care professionals.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a masters degree in counselling and psychotherapy. I hold a degree in psychology and two diplomas in counselling and psychotherapy. I hold a diploma in youthwork. I first qualified in 1997 and have returned after a successful career in the public sector. I want to be the best possible therapist in working with my clients.
I am especially interested in anxiety. following the pandemic. I have experience in working with substance misuse, young people's mental health, depression and many of the challenges life pose.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
