About me

Psychotherapy supports you to find a deeper connection with yourself and cope with the challenging parts of living. With time, it can bring greater freedom to live in ways that are more hopeful, meaningful, and aligned with what you want. You might be arriving here completely new to therapy, you might have had positive or negative past experiences of it, or you might be looking for a change.

As a therapist, I have an attentive, curious, and warm approach. Our sessions are a supportive environment for you to speak without censoring yourself, and I will listen with an open heart and mind. Ultimately, I believe you hold the answers - I don't come with a pre-made plan, and actively avoid assigning labels or pathologising what you are experiencing. Instead, I'm here to listen, offer an outside perspective on the issues you bring, and support you to get curious about yourself.

My Approach

My approach is ‘psychodynamic’, which means I am interested in how past experiences continue to shape our present realities in surprising ways, and the patterns we each might find ourselves stuck in. This can be revealed through attuning to the ‘unconscious’, which means making space for emotions and memories that sit outside of your conscious awareness, that may until now have been unheard, neglected, buried, or misunderstood.

My practice is also ‘relational’, which means that I see our sessions as collaborative and co-created, and I welcome reflection on any issues that might come up between us. At times, we might work in ways that are playful, imaginative, analytic, or courageous, which requires that we deepen trust over time.

Finally, I believe it is crucial that you are able to explore your own identity and social context as part of the work, including experiences of ableism, racism, queerphobia, classism, or marginalisation of any kind.

Biography

I am a trans woman, originally from Yorkshire. My work is influenced by previous training in the arts as a facilitator and movement practitioner. As such, I endeavour to work fluidly and creatively, in ways that create space for multiple truths and possibilities.

Additional information

I charge a sliding scale from £75 to £120, based on what you can afford, as discussed at your consultation session. This structure gives those who can pay more the opportunity to do so, allowing me to offer low-cost therapy to people who otherwise would be unable to afford it.

Low-cost therapy

I also have a limited number of low-cost spaces for people who have low incomes and do not have access to savings / financial support. If you would like to work with me at a lower rate, please let me know in your initial email and share a little about your circumstances. We will discuss what you can afford at our consultation session. If I do not currently have space, I can add you to a waiting list.

If you would like to arrange a consultation session, you can get in touch via email. Please let me know a little about what brings you to therapy and your availability.
