About me
It can be tough reaching out for support, asking for help from someone you don't know and then learning to trust them. Our lives can be messy, and experiences can leave us feeling stuck, lost, or repeating unhealthy patterns, seeking help is the first step to making a change that can affect the rest of your life.
I'm Fiona, a licensed therapist and I am committed to supporting individuals through their journeys growth and self-discovery. Drawing on evidence-based practices, I create a collaborative and welcoming environment where you can explore your challenges and work out what's holding you back.
Counselling is my second career; after spending years working in the corporate and creative sector, volunteering in schools and ten years as an expatriate and mother to 2 teens, I retrained as a counsellor. I believe that this gives me a unique insight into the problems we all face regardless of life stage and culture. My experience is varied, and my client base is diverse. I have a background working with trauma, anxiety, relationship problems and neurodiversity. My counselling experience encompasses the education and charitable sector, couples therapy, and private practice.
I offer a supportive, non judgemental environment where you can share your experiences, we will work together to identify the obstacles preventing your progress and find constructive solutions.
I have a Masters Degree in Counselling from Monash University in Australia and am an Accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.
Training, qualifications & experience
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I leveraged my psychology background in a successful career in business, working as a senior manager and consultant. This experience instilled in me a deep understanding of the stresses of balancing work and family life, which I believe is invaluable in supporting clients facing similar challenges.
This passion for helping others fueled my decision to pursue a career in counselling. To ground my theoretical knowledge, I furthered my education with a Master's degree in Counselling, an Honours degree in Education specialising in the impact of Neurodiveristy on educational outcomes.
My Masters focused on Person Centred therapy, and CBT, to supplement this I have undertaken extra qualifications in DBT and ACT. I am also level 1 and 2 Gottman qualified, couples therapy that helps couples reconnect and improve communication.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology - Kwa-Zulu Natal University
- Graduate Certificate in Education Studies- Monash University
- Masters of Counselling - Monash University (CBT and ACT)
- Gottman level 1 & 2
- Act Level 1&2
- DBT - Level 1&2
