About me

“The purpose of therapy is to set a person free” (Yalom)

I have had the total privilege to witness this first hand. Sometimes you just need a bit of help to you work through a problem and sometimes you need something more long term to unpick years of 'stuckness' from unhelpful relational patterns or way of being.

With a free 30 minute phone consultation, we can have a chat and see if I am the right fit for you.  You might just need a bit of help to you work through a problem or you might need something more long term to unpick years of 'stuckness' from unhelpful relational patterns or way of being.

I can work with many of the mental health difficulties that can arise over our lifetime but my key areas of interest are working with menopause, anxiety, bereavement, trauma, relationship difficulties, depression. After working in education for many years, I have an understanding of the pressures that teachers and school age adolescents have to cope with.

My counselling space is neuro-affirmative and I offer a strengths based approach to working with individuals with autism, ADHD etc.

I enjoy working with adults and consider myself an ally of the LGBTQ+ community.

As a qualified person-centred counsellor working in Newquay and online from any locality, I will promise to hold an empathic and non-judgmental space for you.

My therapeutic philosophy is person centred - you are the expert of your own experience and I believe that you are capable of being the master of your own change. In addition, a good therapeutic relationship is fundamental to therapy. These are the core principles that runs through all my therapy.

However, sometimes I might suggest elements of CBT or psychoeducation that might help you further. These will be offered if you feel they could be beneficial for you.

I am very happy to work face to face, online or over the phone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
