About me
I’m a warm, compassionate and approachable counsellor who believes that feeling heard and understood is the most important starting point. I work with adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed, low, stuck or uncertain about what comes next. You may be navigating depression, changes in your mental health, relationship difficulties, loss, low self-worth, shame, difficult life experiences, or patterns that feel hard to break.
I also have experience supporting people affected by addiction and compulsive patterns, exploring the experiences and emotions that can sit underneath these difficulties, alongside any specialist support you may already have.
I offer a space where you can speak openly without judgement and feel heard. Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, creating space for what feels important to you, all at your pace.
You don't need to have everything figured out before coming to counselling. Sometimes, taking that first step is simply about having someone listen and understand. If you feel that counselling could be helpful, I would welcome the opportunity to talk with you and see whether working together feels like the right fit for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I’m a qualified counsellor and BACP Registered Member (MBACP), having completed SEG Awards Level 2, Level 3 and a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. My training was integrative, including Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis approaches. This gives me different ways of working, depending on what feels relevant to you and what we explore together.
My counselling experience began in a residential recovery setting, where I support adults affected by addiction alongside difficulties such as anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, shame and difficult life experiences. I continue to work in this setting, alongside my experience in community counselling and private practice, where I support people with a range of difficulties and life experiences.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
