About me

Anxiety doesn't always look the way people expect. Neither does grief, or burnout. You might still be showing up, managing, keeping things going, while something inside feels like it's quietly unravelling. If asking for help doesn't come easily, you may have arrived at the right place.

I offer online and in person counselling for adults across the UK, working with anxiety, burnout, depression, grief, trauma, and the kind of exhaustion that rest doesn't fix.

Many of the people I work with are used to carrying responsibility — professionals, carers, people who've spent years putting others first. From the outside things may still look manageable. Inside, it's a different story. I also work with adults with ADHD, autism, and high sensitivity, bringing a neurodivergent-affirming approach and specialist training from the National Autistic Society.

Before retraining as a counsellor, I spent over twenty years in senior leadership roles across education and the public sector. That background informs how I work. I understand the particular weight that comes with high expectations, and the habit of putting yourself last. I also understand what it is to question the direction you have been travelling, and to sit with the uncertainty of not yet knowing what comes next.

I work in a person-centred way. We will work at your pace, look at your priorities and  your sense of what matters. No agenda, no pressure to arrive knowing what you want to say.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained as a counsellor at postgraduate level, holding a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), working in accordance with their ethical framework. I also hold a Foundation Certificate in Single Session Counselling.

Before retraining, I spent over twenty years in senior leadership roles, an experience that informs my understanding of pressure, responsibility, and high expectations.

I have experience supporting adults through stress and anxiety, burnout and overwhelm, grief and bereavement, serious illness, and significant life change, including career transition and redundancy.

I use Flash Technique, an approach derived from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, to support clients with trauma and distressing memories. It allows us to work in a way that feels manageable, without needing to go into overwhelming detail. I bring a trauma-informed perspective to all my work.

I am neurodivergent-affirming and have undertaken specialist training from the National Autistic Society.

I receive regular clinical supervision in line with BACP requirements.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I work with people who are outwardly capable but quietly struggling beneath the surface. This may include burnout, anxiety, a loss of direction, or the ongoing weight of responsibility, particularly when the life you have built no longer feels sustainable.

I also have particular experience working with end of life, anticipatory grief, and disenfranchised grief, losses that can be hard to name or that others may not fully recognise or understand. This includes supporting people through serious and terminal illness, both as patients and as those who love them. Much of this experience comes from my work as a counsellor in a hospice setting, where I have supported clients and families through some of life’s most difficult moments.

I use Flash Technique, an approach derived from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, to support clients with trauma and distressing memories, working in a way that feels manageable and does not require you to revisit difficult experiences in detail. I have specialist training from the National Autistic Society and work in a neurodivergent-affirming way.
