About me

Hello, my name is Emma. I am a UKCP registered systemic and family psychotherapist offering support to individuals, couples and families who are experiencing difficulties. I have my own private practice based in Dorking Surrey, and also work in adult and child and adolescent mental health services within the NHS.

Families and those in relationships sometimes get into difficulties due to their differences; or feel the strain when loved ones have troubles. In a similar way to how all parts of the human body can work together the help heal a broken bone or fight an infection; family therapy can help family members work together when something feels particularly difficult.

There is no escaping the fact that we rarely live our lives in isolation. We are one small part of a complex web of relationships and our interactions with people are generally influenced by the response we get from others.  It is therefore unsurprising that everything we do impacts in some way on those around us and visa versa.

Professionally, I have covered the whole life span - from babies, young children and adolescents; to adults, couples, parents and the elderly. As a sibling, a partner and a parent I also have personal experience of how even a small change in one persons life can ultimately impact on close relationships, family dynamics and day to day functioning.

I offer a safe space in which to explore your difficulties and facilitate positive change. I am transparent and collaborative in my approach, helping you to improve relationships and overcome challenges.

I provide the opportunity for an initial consultation to help establish whether my approach is right for you at this time. There is no obligation to take it further.

I am able to offer appointments some evenings during the week and on Saturday mornings depending on availability.

Please call or email me if you have any queries.
