About me

Talking our issues through is as old as time. Talking with a professional therapist can facilitate deeper exploration, leading to increased self-awareness and personal growth. I am a person-centred therapist which means that my way of working focuses on your unique issues, within the context of your life, and is guided by your needs. I offer therapy characterised by acceptance, empathy, and honesty, through which I will support you in finding new insight into your experiences, different perspectives on your life's challenges, and the potential for meaningful change as you move forward with your life.

I work with people of all ages and have supported people through a wide range of issues including stress, anxiety, low self esteem, depression, anger issues, loss and relationship challenges.

I regularly invest in my professional development and sometimes integrate elements of other therapies into my approach, this further supports me in supporting your individual needs. My work is rooted in long standing theory and evidence-based techniques, but my warmth, understanding, acceptance and, where appropriate, sense of humour are equally integral.

Counselling is a collaborative experience, where the therapeutic relationship is key and so it is important that the therapist you work with feels right for you. I am happy to talk to you on the phone or via zoom initially, free of charge and without obligation. We can discuss what you hope to achieve from your therapy sessions, and I can answer any questions. This will also give you a chance to decide if I might be the right therapist for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • FdSc Counselling and Psychotherapy - Distinction.
  • CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies.
  • CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • BA (Hons) Communication Studies
  • I have worked in a number of settings including Agency work, Care, the NHS and schools both primary and secondary.
  • I regularly invest in my professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
