About Me
EL Therapy – Counselling and Psychotherapy
As a qualified counsellor, psychotherapist and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I offer a warm, compassionate and collaborative approach, tailoring therapy to your individual needs. My integrative approach combines Person-Centred Therapy and CBT to help you understand not only the difficulties bringing you to counselling, but also the life experiences, relationships and patterns of coping that may be influencing the present. Together, we can build greater self-understanding and create meaningful, lasting change.
My approach is informed by experience within the NHS, the education sector and charitable organisations, including Macmillan Cancer Support. Alongside my private practice, I have supported adults, young people and families experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. This includes working in healthcare settings, supporting people through significant life and health challenges. I also have three years’ experience as a high school counsellor, supporting young people with a broad range of emotional and mental health needs.
Adults
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional, relational and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), abuse, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, neurodivergence, and the emotional impact of health conditions and life transitions.
Alongside this, I pay attention to the wider context of your experiences. This includes how past relationships, life events and patterns of coping may continue to shape how you think, feel and relate to yourself and others in the present. This understanding can support deeper insight alongside practical, emotional and lasting change.
Young People (Age 12+)
My experience as a high school counsellor includes supporting young people with age-specific challenges such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, identity and sexuality, exam stress, family and relationship difficulties, neurodivergence and trauma.
I also support young people in developing practical coping strategies, building resilience, and working in a safe and supportive way, particularly when navigating more complex emotional difficulties.
Professional Collaboration
I work collaboratively with other professionals where appropriate, including GPs, CAMHS, psychiatrists and psychologists. With your consent, and where it is helpful, I may liaise with or refer to other services to support joined-up care and ensure timely access to additional support.
I work in line with NICE guidelines and the Level 3 Stepped Care Model, offering structured CBT interventions where appropriate.
How I Work
My integrative practice is grounded in a Person-Centred approach, meaning I offer a warm, respectful and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. My aim is to help you make sense of your experiences and develop greater self-understanding.
Where appropriate, I integrate evidence-based CBT interventions, helping you understand the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours while developing practical tools for change.
Whether you are facing current or past difficulties, therapy offers space to reflect, explore patterns and move towards meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.
I value each person’s individuality and work with care, respect and collaboration to support autonomy, wellbeing and lasting emotional growth.
Taking the first step towards support can feel daunting, and there are many reasons you might be considering therapy. Finding the right therapist is important, which is why I offer a free, informal 20-minute telephone consultation, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and explore whether I’m the right therapist for you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
My specialist area of work is in psycho-oncology, where I have supported individuals and families affected by cancer, life-limiting health conditions, comorbidities, and complex psychosocial issues. This experience spans both the NHS and the charity sector.
In addition to this, I have worked in education as a school counsellor, supporting young people through a wide range of life and age specific challenges.
While much of my background involves working with complex and sensitive issues, I also work with adults and young people navigating everyday difficulties. I value each client’s individuality, supporting their autonomy and responding to their unique needs with care and respect.
