About me

You may look as though you are coping while privately feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or constantly on edge. Perhaps you overthink everything, struggle to say no, put everybody else’s needs before your own or feel as though you have spent so long adapting to other people that you are no longer sure what you need.

I’m Emma, a person-centred counsellor based in Euxton, near Chorley. I offer a calm, private and non-judgemental space where you do not have to pretend that everything is fine.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, depression, low self-esteem, low confidence, people pleasing, masking, loneliness and work-related stress. I also have significant experience supporting people through bereavement, loss, illness and major changes in their lives.

I am particularly passionate about working with autistic and ADHD adults. You may have a formal diagnosis, be awaiting assessment, identify as neurodivergent or simply be beginning to wonder whether autism or ADHD could help explain some of your experiences. You do not need a diagnosis to explore any of this in counselling.

As a neurodivergent person myself, I understand that a traditional counselling environment may not always feel comfortable. You are welcome to move, fidget, bring a comfort item, take time to process a question or tell me when something does not make sense. Eye contact is never expected, and you do not have to mask in our sessions.

Person-centred counselling means that our work will be guided by you. I will not judge you, lecture you or tell you what decisions to make. Instead, I will listen carefully and work alongside you as we explore what you are experiencing, recognise patterns and begin to understand what you need. You do not have to arrive knowing where to begin or what to talk about.

I offer counselling in a private therapy room in Euxton, as well as online sessions, home visits and walk-and-talk counselling where appropriate. There is off-road parking, one small step into the building and the counselling room is on the ground floor.

Spirituality can also be explored if it is meaningful to you. I am comfortable working with spiritual beliefs and experiences, but spirituality will never be assumed or introduced unless you choose to discuss it. You are equally welcome if spirituality is not part of your life.

I offer a free 30-minute introductory conversation by telephone, online or in person. This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask questions and get a sense of whether I might be the right counsellor for you. There is no obligation to book afterwards, and you do not need to prepare anything.

To arrange an introductory conversation, click the “Email me” button. You do not need to explain everything in your first message—your name, preferred type of session and general availability are enough.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. I work in accordance with its ethical framework and professional standards.

Alongside my private practice, I have experience providing counselling within a hospice setting, supporting people affected by bereavement, illness, anticipatory grief and loss. This work has given me the privilege of supporting adults from a wide variety of backgrounds and at different stages of life.

I am autistic and have ADHD, giving me lived experience of neurodivergence alongside my professional training. I understand that every neurodivergent person is different, and I will work with you to understand your individual needs rather than making assumptions based on a diagnosis or label.

I am also qualified in Reiki and crystal healing, which I offer separately through Brambleside Holistics. Spirituality may be discussed within counselling when it is relevant and meaningful to you, but holistic practices will not form part of your counselling unless this has been clearly discussed and agreed.
