About me
Hi! My name is Emma. I am a humanistic integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. Which means I believe you are the expert of yourself. I work with empathy and unconditional positive regard for every person I have the privilege to support. I provide a safe, confidential space where you can explore and make sense of your thoughts, feelings, behaviour and emotions.
I integrate elements from different therapeutic modalities to best support each unique person I work with. When appropriate, I incorporate nature and creative writing to support your path to wellbeing.
I support clients in understanding the connection between their minds and bodies. This knowledge enables them to self-regulate and return to a place of tolerance, equipping them to handle life's external triggers and overwhelming emotions through choice rather than automatic reactions. Finding this inner strength and balance allows clients to live more freely.
Navigating significant life transitions—for example, someone's death, a relationship breakdown, a change of job or home, a traumatic event, or a life-altering illness—can be tough. Reaching out for support takes courage, but it can be a vital step towards healing. I tailor my approach to each person's unique needs, to help them process grief and alleviate mild to moderate symptoms of reactive depression, stress and anxiety.
Central to my practice is the principle of 'do no harm'—non-maleficence—and the commitment to act in the best interest of clients—beneficence. I help normalise behaviours by illustrating how humans interact with the world. For instance, our autonomic nervous system may shut us down to keep us safe (e.g. depression), or encourage us toward social engagement to maintain connections with the world.
I work with adult clients seeking positive change in their lives.
Training, qualifications & experience
In addition to being a Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor - mind/body - (PBSP) psychotherapist, I hold an Advanced Level-4 diploma in Integrative Counselling. I have also completed a year-long clinical placement with Arc of Axminster, a charity that provides specialist counselling for adults seeking support during times of profound change, trauma, and loss, with a focus on grief and bereavement within a primary care setting.
I am committed to continued professional development (CPD), having completed several advanced trainings in PBSP with Juliet Grayson and Sandy Cotter (both trainers in the UK PBSP training school), and Therapeutic Journaling with Claire Williamson etc.

"Most therapies help you cope with issues, PBSP helps to resolve issues, creating deep change and healing.” Juliet Grayson - PBSP UK Trainer & UKCP Psychotherapist
PBSP is a unique, creative and liberating therapy which can help us become more empowered, let go of old, unhelpful patterns of behaviour that limit us in the present. The method can help us create new ideal memories to fit (countershape) what we needed to have happened in the past, help us become aware of our own therapeutic process, and support us to feel grounded and attain a greater sense of self.
