About me
Having worked as a psychotherapist for over 17 years, I am fully qualified and experienced in supporting people with a range of issues; perhaps it’s a long-term problem that you feel unable to improve, or an immediate crisis that is causing distress. You may be overwhelmed by emotions or have difficulty accessing your emotions. Or you may have physical symptoms which you want help with. Alternatively, you may feel you’ve reached a point where you just need some independent help or support.
My aim as a therapist is to be a sympathetic listener, providing a non-judgmental environment where in confidence, you can reflect and express yourself outside of the pressures of everyday life and social obligations.
I offer both short and long-term psychotherapy to adults and young people on a one-to-one basis, working online via zoom.
My original training was as an Integrative Body Psychotherapist alongside relational psychotherapy. However my work is ever evolving as I gain more experience and knowledge. This enables me to offer help and support for a number of different issues and problems, and tailor our work to suit your needs. Please refer to my website www.emmaclews.co.uk for more information.
Additionally, neuro-diversity such as Asperger's and ADHD has become an area of particular interest for me in recent years. This new awareness has led me to deepen my study and understanding, supporting me to offer a more attuned and sensitive lens for related issues and 'differences'.
I also believe that for counselling to be effective, it is vitally important to find a therapist with who you can build trust and have confidence in. As a first step in achieving this, if you would like a phone call to discuss what you are looking for help with, you can use the Counselling Directory ‘Intro call’ facility. Alternatively please email me or contact me on 07944 684853 and we can arrange a time to speak. This would be for up to 20 minutes and there is no charge for this.
Another option is to arrange an Initial Assessment appointment where there is more time to explore what you feel you need help with and how we would work together to achieve this. The cost for an Initial Assessment is £60, with an ongoing fee of £75 per session.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
