About me

Hello, my name is Emily. I am an Integrative counsellor, therefore I draw on different techniques from different types of therapy to tailor an approach specific to your needs. I like to incorporate psycho education within my sessions to empower my clients and give them the tools they need to enable them to move forward. Clients and I have found ourselves adding some humour to the occasional session which has strengthened our therapeutic relationship and taken some of the heaviness out of a difficult session whilst remaining professional.

My current role in my full-time job is a 'Trauma Informed' Practice counsellor. I work very closely with complex trauma. I typically cover suicidal thoughts and ideations, PTSD, anxiety, addictions, depression, substance misuse and all forms of abuse.

I don't believe anybody should be judged and we all have our own story to tell, including myself.  I am completely non-judgemental and extremely empathic. I love helping people move forward and heal in life.

It isn't easy choosing a therapist and I fully appreciate it may feel like a daunting process. Sometimes just accepting that we need help and reaching out can be the hardest part. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at all.

I'm qualified, insured and registered with the BACP. I am offering telephone or video call counselling.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
