About me

Hello, I'm Emily, passionate about people and creating spaces that feel safe enough for the more difficult parts of self and life to feel seen and heard.

My approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and a gentle sense of humour and creativity. Whatever complicated feelings, pain, frustration, thought-tangles or loops you may bring, I welcome them with openness, care, and respect.

Therapy is a place for you to be you - a space to talk and share, where you can be honest with yourself about what's going on in your life. I hold close Carl Rogers' words that "the curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change"

I offer myself with open heart to listen to whatever's going on for you - whether that's tales from the past telling their story in your present, old patterns seeking new forms, future dreams longing to be known, or simply the week by week struggles and complexities of life. I'm here as someone who genuinely cares and will meet you with presence, honesty and sensitivity to the best of my capabilities.

I feel a particular affinity with those who experience life a little differently, whose sensitivities or “wiring” may feel at odds with the world around them. I see my role as an alternative mirror to the one you may be accustomed to, offering a warm, open reflection that invites self-discovery and fresh perspective. My hope is to help nurture confidence and trust in who you are, in who you’re becoming and support a sense of resilience in the face of adversity. I hold the therapeutic relationship as a place of mutual transformation, and my position as a real privilege, aiming to offer a space that feels inclusive, grounded, and quietly alive with possibility.

Over time, therapy can offer a safe space to explore how we came to be, and how we can move towards greater emotional safety, confidence, trust and acceptance within ourselves, supporting our self-development and engagement with life with more spaciousness and choice.

I’m interested in your story. I also have my own, one I have brought to therapy over the years and continue to explore as I deepen my sense of trust, belonging, and inner connection. I do this work because I believe in the power of being truly seen, and in the transformation that can unfold when we are given permission to express ourselves fully.

My approach is informed by an understanding of trauma and somatic work shaped by academic study, embodiment practices, professional and lived experience. I invite you to include the body in our work, to listen to its sensations, its rhythms, and its quiet messages. I believe that attuning to our felt experience can gently support a deeper sense of connection and congruence between mind, body, soul and the wider interconnected web of life.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I genuinely look forward to hearing from you and welcome a role in supporting you to care for yourself.

I bring to my practice over twenty years of experience in the health and social care sector. My professional background includes years working in domestic abuse services, disability support, mental health, refugee support and youth work.

My Masters dissertation focussed on the embodied self-care of helping professionals in the trauma-field through the lens of conscious movement practice, Open Floor, exploring the archetype of the wounded healer prevalent throughout the social care sector. I am passionate about supporting those who support others, and completed my person-centred counselling training placement with a service supporting carers.

Alongside my professional and academic background, I bring a deep personal connection to embodied and mindfulness practices, shaped by my own healing journey and passion for movement, creativity and conscious dance.

I absolutely cannot claim to be an expert in all of issues listed above, but I am here to support you as you navigate your way through whatever particular, nuanced challenge you're experiencing and we can discuss together whether or not my approach feels like a good fit.

As a pattern seeker, I’m open to helping you make sense of any diagnoses you may have or be exploring, to support you in understanding what that truly means for you and how you move through life - beyond the label or medicalised idea of ‘disorder'.
