About me
Hello, I am Emily, a fully qualified children and young people’s counsellor and a registered member of the BACP, working with children and young people between the ages of 10-25 years old. I offer an emotionally safe and nurturing environment where you feel accepted and listened to without judgment. I have seen my counselling has provided children and young people develop a deeper understanding of themselves and has supported them in navigating and overcoming challenging experiences, thoughts, and feelings.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an integrative counsellor and I have extensive experience working with children and young people. My previous experience includes working as a community mental health nurse for 5 years. I have experience working with children and young people and I am happy to work with a variety of client groups.
I have experience working with a wide range of mental health difficulties including anxiety disorders (OCD, social anxiety and generalised anxiety), depression, trauma, low self-esteem, loneliness, anger, identity, grief, intrusive thoughts, and panic attacks. I have also worked with many neurodiverse children and young people. I am particularly experienced in the use of talking and creative therapies. You do not need a diagnosis to access this counselling, instead, I am interested in listening and supporting you with your experiences and concerns.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Finding the right support can be difficult. I offer a free 30-minute telephone call so we can talk together about what kind of support you are looking for, what I offer as a counsellor and discuss what counselling looks like.
If following this call, you would like to book a first counselling session together, we can do this online or in person. My therapy room is located in Ruddington, it is a bright, safe and confidential space overlooking trees.
