About me
Scrolling through directory listings to find the right counsellor can be so overwhelming and it can often be hard to work out who is the best fit for you and your experiences. I have tried to make this introduction to me as brief as I can, giving you the key information about who I am and who I work with. I am always happy to have an initial free chat over the phone if you want to get a better feel for how I can help you, so please be assured you'll be met kindly and gently should you choose to reach out.
Life can become heavy in ways we don't always expect. You might be grieving the loss of someone or something, feeling overwhelmed or burnt out, navigating identity questions, exploring neurodiversity, or perhaps trying to hold everything together.
In our sessions, you'll have a calm, grounded space where you can explore your feelings at your own pace. I blend together traditional talking therapy and creative approaches to help you explore your experiences in a way that feels safe, comfortable and accessible.
I work with a wide range of clients and have experience of many areas including anxiety (including generalised anxiety disorder and social anxiety), low self esteem / low confidence, relationship / family issues and stress or depression. My particular areas of interest and experience are;
Bereavement and Loss - Including those processing the death of a loved one, or the loss or ending of other relationships. I am also experienced in working with childhood bereavement.
Neurodivergent Experiences - Including Autism and ADHD, late diagnosis, masking, burnout, sensory processing and communication difficulties and identity exploration.
LGBTQ+ Journeys - Including relationships, transitions, and self understanding.
Young People - I work with young people aged 11+. For many young people life can feel overwhelming, pressured or confusing. Counselling offers a space just for them where they can explore their feelings, build confidence and develop ways of coping. Sessions are adapted to their needs, using creative interventions and games to help them express themselves.
I work face to face from a private room in Ringwood, Hampshire or Sturminster Newton, Dorset with adults and children aged 11+. I offer online or telephone sessions to adults in the UK.
When you feel ready to reach out for support, I offer an initial 20 - 30-minute telephone call where you can ask any questions you might have and see if I am the right fit. Please email me on emily@fayrewoodcounselling.co.uk to arrange.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
