Elizabeth Raper BA (Hons), MBACP Accredited & Registered Cert. No. 026008
Perhaps you need a quiet, peaceful place to talk around your concerns, and plan a way forward? Sometimes its difficult to see whats going wrong with your life, and at other times its very obvious. I am not judgemental and aim to encourage and support you to be inquisitive about your life, rather than judgemental;Together we can search for a way forward. We will have a series of conversations around what troubles you, in order to clarify your concerns, and move on.
I offer a reduced cost initial session in order to discuss how we can work together.
I trained as in Integrative Counsellor/Therapist at the University of Leeds, and qualified in 2007. I am a fully accredited, insured and registered member of The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.
MY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY OF COUNSELLING
Problems arise for most people at some point in their lives. A crisis may suddenly happen, or sometimes you struggle along for years, coping with difficult feelings. A wide range of concerns bring people to seek counselling, which offers a safe place to explore how problems have arisen, how they have affected you and how you move on from the psychological distress.
I firmly believe that effective results emerge from the working relationship we develop. My role is to help you find your own answers, and so freeing you to move on with a better insight into yourself. Together we will explore the story of your concern, so you can decide your next step ….. from a position of increased power and insight. My style of counselling is conversational. I am inquisitive about your life, but not intrusive. My aim would help you to become interested and inquisitive about your own life.
Integrative counselling involves combining elements of differing approaches to best suit the particular needs of the individual client. It is a bespoke approach, tailored to the clients’ needs.
I value an ethical approach to my work and practice in accordance the BACP guidelines, which ultimately benefits the work we do together.
In our initial meeting, we will discuss together what has brought you to seek counselling along with your best hopes and fears around the process. Choosing a counsellor/therapist with whom you feel comfortable and confident is essential for an effective working alliance. It is important to remember that you are always in control regarding the amount/extent of counselling you require. We regularly review our work together in order to monitor its usefulness.
I have experience of working in various Primary Care Trust settings, with families and clients in a Mental Health setting. I currently also provide counselling for Leeds Mind.
My counselling rooms are in Leeds central, Morley and Birstall.
