About me

Are you looking for non-judgemental help and support with your difficulties and concerns? People come to therapy for many different reasons. Whatever your reasons, therapy with me provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk with a qualified therapist about your difficulties. The goal of therapy is to help you understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and to develop skills to manage your life in a more satisfying way.

How I can help you

I am a trusted Psychotherapist and draw upon many years of training in psychology and counselling, and experience in helping people. I combine my knowledge and experience with therapeutic skills to help you in the best possible way according to your needs.

What I can help with

I help people with most of life’s difficulties, relationship problems and mental health concerns. I have a particular interest in:

*Anxiety              *Stress/ Burnout      * Couple Counselling    *Low Self-Esteem      *Family conflict    *Life transitions      *Bereavement              *Existential Crisis  *Body Fofussed Repetitive Behaviour e.g. Trichotillomania (hair-pulling ), Dermotillomania (skin picking)

How I work

People describe me as approachable and easy to talk to, which is helpful for most people, especially at the start. I work in an integrative way, which means I integrate knowledge and tools from a variety of therapies. We will explore what it is you would like to deal with in therapy and we will agree on your therapeutic goals. I will offer you therapy tailored to your needs and we will work in a way that works best for you.

I work in a humanistic way, which means that I will support you to freely explore your whole life experience over the past, present and future. My main framework is known as Existential Psychotherapy, which helps people to live a more satisfying life, on their own terms, with the responsibility and freedom that comes with it.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a master’s level qualified counsellor and registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.  You can be assured that my work adheres to the highest professional and ethical standards.

I have had many years of education up to Masters level in Psychology and also Organisational and Occupational Psychology.  This means I have a deep knowledge of psychological theory which informs the way I work.

I have previously worked in the NHS and other counselling services and have experience of helping people with a range of mental health, relationship, and life difficulties.

In my personal journey, prior to becoming a Psychotherapist, I had a corporate career that has had its own challenges and many ups and downs. It is fair to say that I have had my own dealings with stress, work-life balance, strained relationships and burnout.

I am currently completing a Doctorate in Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology at The New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology and Middlesex University.  My area of research is burnout.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
