About me

Hi, I am Elina and welcome to my space!

I hope this is the right time and place for you to start your journey.

I understand that everyday life may sometimes get in the way and doesn't allow us to pause for a moment and acknowledge our thoughts and feelings. Even when we do, judgement and self-criticism can become obstacles in confronting our own, real feelings. This can be quite overwhelming and exhausting.

Sometimes talking to a family member or loved one about how you feel or what you are going through can be quite difficult. It might seem easier to talk to an independent professional about what is on your mind and that is exactly what I am here for.

I am passionate about my work and my aim is to create a calm, confidential and safe environment where my clients feel comfortable, listened to and supported. Our therapy will be based on respect, honesty and trust. It is important for you to feel that you have a good connection with me and are comfortable to express your thoughts and emotions, even the ones that might make you feel uncomfortable.

How I can help you

I have a Masters degree in Psychodynamic Counselling which allows me to work with you on a deeper level and look at how your past experiences can have an impact on your present day life. I can help you understand how repressed emotions affect your current decision-making, behaviour and relationships.

Psychodynamic Therapy has always supported the idea that the therapeutic relationship we build is a key factor in promoting trust and can be a window into problematic relationship patterns in your life.

I have worked in various settings and have the experience of dealing with a wide range of presenting issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, low self esteem, relationship difficulties, abuse, self-harm, OCD and addiction.

I can support you in gaining a better understanding of how you think, feel and behave. My experience has shown me that this is often the first step in making a positive change to your life.

Throughout our therapy together I can help you discover parts of yourself you haven't yet identified and deepen your awareness. My aim is to assist you in achieving confidence to support yourself and in making the changes that feel right for you in moving forwards in life.

Please feel free to contact me and discuss any worries or questions you may have without any obligation of committing to any sessions. I understand that finding the right counsellor for you is really important.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Walk & Talk

I offer "Walk & Talk" sessions if you feel that this could be of benefit to you. Over the last few years there has been an increased demand for therapy in an outdoor environment. More and more people have found themselves trapped in their own homes as a result of the Covid-19 restrictions. "Walk & Talk" offers the opportunity to experience therapy outside the walls of the therapy room and express feelings in a different, more open environment.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to know more about this service.

Free Introductory Discussion

You may have a specific issue you want to discuss or you may also not know what's wrong, and that's ok too.

I offer a free 15 minutes session where we can discuss how I can help you and you can ask any questions you may have.
