About me

I’m a qualified Music Therapist who specialises in working with children and young people. Music Therapy offers a different way of expressing feelings, where finding words can be a struggle. Your child/young person does not need to know how to play music and I don't teach them to play an instrument, we use music and sounds along with other arts like play, drama and art to aid communication and expression.

I offer children/young people with anxiety, low mood and confidence, neurodivergence, EBSA (emotionally based school avoidance), learning disabilities, challenging behaviour or more complex needs, a safe place in my music room. My sessions are all unique and based around the individual child/young person and their needs. I have a designated music room with a wide range of instruments and props. Every child/young person deserves the best chance to build confidence and resilience, and a positive sense of self-worth.

Please contact me for a short free conversation to explore how I could support your child/young person and answer any questions you might have.

Experience

I specialise in working with children and young people 3-21 years, though this may be flexible. I have worked with children who were struggling with anxiety, EBSA, neurodivergence, low mood, learning difficulties, self harm, grief and adoption.

I led a bereavement group for young adults with learning disabilities.

I have experience working in a children’s hospice, where the needs varied, and many of the children were non-verbal.

I was part of an online sing and sign group (Makaton) for young people with learning disabilities.

I contributed to an online dementia choir.

As well as working with children, I also worked with parents/carers whose children were struggling with their mental health. Much of this work was around EBSA.  I led online peer support groups providing a safe space for parents to share their struggles while gaining support from others. I also offered 1:1 support sessions with parents. This work gave me the opportunity to work with families as a whole.

Supervision with another experienced professional is mandatory for therapists. They play an important part in making sure you are receiving the best care for your child.

Email is the best way to contact me as I’m not always able to answer a call.
