About me
Are you the parent or guardian of a child struggling with their mental health and well-being? Or is your child facing challenges such anxiety and worry that affect their ability to thrive socially, academically, or emotionally? Have you noticed changes in your child’s behaviour or mood that concern you? I’m here to help.
I’m Dominique, a qualified counsellor specialising in working with children and young people. I offer in person one-to-one therapy sessions for children and young people aged 10 to 18. My integrative, person-centred approach places the client at the heart of the therapeutic journey. Sessions can incorporate creative tools such as art, clay, and sand tray to help articulate thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to verbalise.
My approach is non-directive. I invite the child/young person to lead the direction of the session, and I’ll walk beside them, meeting them where they are. We’ll work at a pace that feels right for them, with them in control of what we talk about. Building trust is at the heart of my work. I strive to maintain a warm, accepting, and non-judgemental space to address sensitive topics and support positive changes. I won't tell your child what to do, together I'll help them explore what matters to them and support them on their own journey.
I am also trained in Sand Tray Therapy. Sand Tray Therapy sessions can be offered as a stand-alone service or as part of an integrated approach. Sand Tray Therapy is a creative, transformative healing process for people of all ages, using symbols and metaphor to connect with and express the unconscious. In a session, the client creates a three-dimensional scene or “world” inside a sand tray, using figurines and other available items in the room, within a safe space. This process helps express deep feelings, reveals underlying patterns, and can ease inner conflicts, guiding personal growth toward a sense of balance and wholeness.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over ten years of experience in education and the youth development field and can build positive rapport with children and young people. I have volunteered with Place2Be, a children’s mental health charity, where I provided one-to-one therapy sessions for children as young as 8 who were experiencing challenges such as anxiety, emotional distress, as well as school and home-related issues. I spent over 10 years as a learning support assistant in a specialist secondary school for students with SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs. I have experience supporting neurodivergent students, including those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and ADHD, and I am committed to helping children with additional needs feel safe and comfortable in the therapy room.
I have a postgraduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy from the University of Salford.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their ethical guidelines and standards, prioritising the wellbeing and confidentiality of the young people I work with above all else.
I am dedicated to enhancing my skills and knowledge through regular supervision and a variety of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses throughout the year. By staying informed of the latest research and therapeutic approaches, I ensure that I provide the highest standard of care for the children and young people I work with.
I attend supervision once a month with a qualified counsellor and supervisor who specialises in working with children and young people. Regular supervision plays a vital role in my practice, allowing me to discuss my work with a qualified counsellor and supervisor. This process is essential for maintaining safe and ethical practices, ensuring that I continually reflect on my methods and the wellbeing of my clients.
The best way to contact me is via email or text message as I am not always able to answer calls.
