About me
Hello, and welcome. My name is Dianne, and I am a person-centred counsellor offering face-to-face, online and telephone counselling in Elgin, Moray and across North East Scotland.
Reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’re unsure where to start or whether counselling is right for you. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply know that something doesn’t feel quite right. Life experiences such as loss, trauma, anxiety, work-related stress or relationship difficulties can all affect how we feel and cope.
I offer a warm, supportive and confidential space where you can talk openly at your own pace. There is no pressure to know what to say or where to begin — we can explore things together, gently and safely. I have experience working with anxiety, grief and the impact of trauma, and my approach is grounded in empathy, trust and non-judgement.
Building a trusting relationship is central to my work, allowing you to feel heard, understood and accepted just as you are.
Sessions are available face-to-face, online or by telephone, with flexible appointment times. If you’re feeling unsure about taking the first step, an introductory call can be a helpful way to ask questions and see whether working together feels right for you. Please feel free to get in touch at a time that suits you.

Further information
I work from my summerhouse in my back garden, which offers a quiet, comfortable, and private space. I see clients both face to face and online, always taking care to ensure confidentiality and a sense of safety while we work together.
Person-centred counselling is a talking therapy where you are given the space to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. You may wish to talk about things that are happening now, or experiences from the past. Being listened to with care, without judgement or pressure, can help you begin to understand yourself more clearly and make sense of how life’s events are affecting you. Your session time is entirely yours, and there is no expectation to talk about anything before you feel ready.
What to Expect
Starting counselling can feel daunting, especially if you are unsure what will happen. Your first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin getting to know one another. We will spend some time talking through a counselling contract, which explains confidentiality and how I work. This can be emailed to you beforehand if that feels helpful. You can ask any questions you may have, and there is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with.
Sessions are led by you. There is no set agenda and no right or wrong way to use your time. You may choose to talk, sit quietly, reflect, or explore thoughts and feelings as they arise. I will listen carefully and support you without judgement or expectation. Counselling is not about being given advice, but about helping you understand yourself and your responses to life in a safe and supportive environment.
Some people notice changes quickly, while for others it takes time — both are completely normal. We can review how sessions are feeling for you as we go, and you are always in control of the pace and direction of the work. If you have any concerns or worries at any point, you are welcome to share them. Your wellbeing and sense of safety are always my priority.
I am a member of COSCA, the professional body for counselling and psychotherapy in Scotland, and I work in line with their code of ethics. You are very welcome to visit cosca.org.uk if you would like more information about these standards or their complaints procedure.
As part of my responsibility to support you safely, I attend monthly clinical supervision in person. This helps ensure my practice remains ethical, reflective, and supportive. These supervision sessions are completely confidential and do not identify you.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you are considering counselling and have any questions at all, please feel free to get in touch. I understand that reaching out can feel difficult, and I will respond with care.
