I provide a safe place from which to move on in life, to explore, discover and experience your journey with a greater understanding, meaning and awareness. I have worked with a variety of problems. I am passionate about individual potential and the creative inner strengths that brings about change particularly in working towards self acceptance & healing. My Therapy process will consist of:
- Listening to problems experienced.
- Exploring how you see those problems and how this effects you.
- Working with you collaboratively towards your outcomes.
- Developing and establishing a good Therapeutic relationship.
- Regular review thus taking account of how the counselling process is working for you.
My schooling to Counselling comes from the approach of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & Mindfulness however over the years I have taken much interest in many other Therapeutic approaches that meets individual need.
C.B.T. enables the individual to examine their interpretations, meanings and values given to situation and circumstance. It works with negative thoughts, conditional assumptions, core beliefs and schema and illustrates how these might be attributed to self. It entails putting words to thought and identifies maintaining cycles with the use of patterns and imagery. Complementing this approach is the aspect of Mindfulness. In the process of Therapy it enables the individual to stand back from their situation and explains how individuals can link new information to existing knowledge. Mindfulness brings attention to the experience of the moment and works with the acceptance and willingness to be.
I am an Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to the Ethical Framework of Good Practice. This covers issues of confidentiality, supervision of my work, continuing professional development and insurance.
