If you are stressed, anxious, or struggling in any area of your life, I can help you to take back control and feel better.
I work with people of all ages, experiencing a range of challenges from the seemingly minor to the potentially life-threatening. I can help you to feel better from the very first session and give you a range of proven tools and techniquesthat you can use whenever and wherever you need them.
My aim is to empower you so that you can learn to cope with whatever challenges you are facing, whether or not your situation changes.
If you have tried other therapies without success, if you are uncertain whether or not you want to see a therapist, or even if you are wondering whether there is anyone who can help you, I would like to reassure you that I can help you and you can feel better than you do today.
Sometimes asking for help is the hardest part so the fact that you have made it this far is a positive first step.
What I can do for you
I work with people with a wide range of mental and physical health issues, I can help you to:
· Understand why you feel the way you do and how to change it
· Overcome your limiting thoughts and beliefs
· Reduce your anxiety
· Learn to manage stress
· Break the cycle of depression
· Recover from trauma
· Beat your addictions
· Stop self-destructive behaviours
· Fulfil your potential
· Improve your mental and physical health
How I work
My approach is based on the principles of The Human Givens. This states that as humans we have certain psychological needs and the innate resources to meet these needs. These are the “givens” of our existence. By helping you to access your own powerful, innate resources I can help you feel calmer, more confidentand more in control.
What to expect
I offer a free initial conversation to find out why you are considering counselling and what you want to achieve. This is your chance to really clarify what you want from your life and it is also an opportunity for you to explore whether you feel comfortable working with me, as good rapport is important. I will give you some immediate coping strategies and show you how to relax more effectively.
Next we will begin to develop strategies that can help you to move forward, refocus your attention and build the skills you need to take charge of your life.

What people say about me

“Thank you Des for turning the light on at the end of my very long, very dark tunnel, I will be forever grateful.” Paul, fireman

I can’t believe in only three sessions, I now get good restful sleep.” Steve sales rep
“I was always scared of letting go and letting my defences down. That first relaxation session we did made me a believer in hypnosis/guided visualisation.” Joe, builder.

“When I first met you, I was stressed beyond belief, panic attacks and anxiety ruled my life. I thought there was no hope for me, I had tried everything or so I thought. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” Graham, business manager.
