About me
Hi, I’m Denise, and I am a psychodynamic counsellor. Whether you are facing challenges in relationships, struggling with past trauma and loss or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I am here to listen and support you, offering insight and compassion. I understand that the thought of attending counselling can be anxiety-inducing in itself, but you do not need to feel alone.
Psychodynamic counselling can help us understand how our past experiences shape the way we think and feel now. If you are feeling anxious or stuck in the same negative thought patterns, this therapy gives you the space to explore what's happening beneath the surface. As you start to understand those deeper emotional patterns, you can begin to shift your mindset and feel more in control of your thoughts and reactions.
I offer a confidential, safe and non-judgmental space where we can explore any issues that you may have. I believe in creating a supportive environment with clear boundaries, allowing you to feel comfortable as you reflect on your thoughts, emotions and experiences. Building a strong, trust-based relationship is the foundation for effective therapy
My approach is rooted in the belief that, by understanding our past and bringing an awareness to unhelpful repeating patterns of behaviour, we can better navigate the present and bring hope for a healthier future. My approach is client-led, which means we go at your pace and you are free to bring what you want to each session.
Before any commitment, I offer a complimentary 15-minute telephone consultation to discuss if this counselling style is the right 'fit' for you by talking through your expectations around counselling and any worries you may have. It also may give a sense of how well we can work together.
I offer both short and long-term counselling, with reviews taking place after the initial 6 to 9 sessions.
