About me
Welcome, I'm Debbie. Reaching out for help can feel challenging and even scary but you are here and you have come to the right place. I would love to help you on your journey.
Does any of this sound familiar:
- Are you wrestling with fears, unrelenting self-judgement, endless worries or feeling like you don’t know where to turn?
- Do you feel anxious and on edge?
- Do you feel detached from life with low self-esteem?
- Are you struggling with big changes in your life?
- Do you feel like something dreadful will happen?
- Do you have no energy and enthusiasm that used to be a part of who you are and are living on autopilot?
- Are you floundering and questioning everything about yourself?
- Do you feel your identity is shifting making you question how you want to live your life?
- Do you have thoughts that just go over and over in your head, keep you awake at night and it feels like you are losing control?
Would you like to explore more about yourself? Be able to understand your thoughts, feelings and actions. Would you like to understand what fuels your anxiety, low self-esteem and depression?
The relationship between a counsellor and client is fundamentally the core of any session, so finding the right therapist is crucial for the therapy to be fruitful. I am an integrative counsellor which means I work with you at the heart of my practice. As I work with different modalities and theories I have a range of tools to be able to support you in finding a way to heal and we can explore them together; this includes CBT, psychodynamic and person-centred counselling. You can begin to build a new path for yourself to gently delve into and begin to experience life in a different way.
Whatever has brought you here, therapy with me offers a space to slow down, get curious, reflect and begin to understand the deeper roots of your struggles. Together, we’ll work towards:
- Managing overwhelm, calming anxiety and easing overthinking
- Understanding who you are; growing in confidence and self-esteem from within
- Understanding and shifting old patterns that keep you stuck
- Strengthening resilience and preventing burnout
- Creating more balanced, authentic relationships whether in your family, friendships, or work
My approach as an integrative counsellor, is warm, relational and holistic. I am also neuro-affirming and experienced in working with clients with diagnosed or undiagnosed ADHD and Autism.
Therapy can be transformative; it was for me. It’s an investment in yourself and one that can help you begin to live more freely, with greater self-understanding and compassion.
I offer in person counselling at my therapy room in Wingate, on line via Zoom and I also offer walk and talk therapy, which takes our sessions outdoors, integrating nature and gentle movement into the process. Walking can help release tension, regulate the nervous system and make it easier to explore feelings at your own pace. It’s especially supportive if you find eye contact difficult, feel restless in a room, or simply connect better while moving. Many people find this approach calming, grounding and freeing - particularly those navigating anxiety, low self-esteem, ADHD, or Autism.
Whether we meet online, in person outdoors, my aim is to offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and supported to move forward.
If this resonates, please reach out by email or book a free introductory call. We can explore what’s been happening for you and see whether we feel a good fit to work together.

I also currently work as a sessional counsellor working with young people in schools with a range of presenting issues; this includes extensive experience working with ASD and ADHD. I also have a plethora of experience working in a university counselling students through a range of presenting issues such as trauma, low-self esteem, depression and anxiety.
As a lover of learning and growth, I attend CPD regularly. My most recent training courses have been on: working with attachment styles and parts of self; Complex PTSD; working with trauma and shame and working creatively with grounding techniques. I recently attended a days CPD on working with the Shadow and Inner Child. I am currently training in EMDR.
I worked in secondary education for the past 20 years as a pastoral leader responsible for the overall wellbeing of the students in school and an English teacher; this has given me valuable experience in understanding human nature and how each and everyone of us are very different and how we all have different needs. We all have a context to consider and taking a look at the whole of us as humans rather than just a part is integral to self-discovery and growth.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I mainly work face to face either through Walk and Talk therapy and at my therapy room in Wingate. I also work online to offer flexibility for the client in a world where time is often of the essence for many.
Walk and Talk therapy offers many benefits. Some clients prefer very little eye contact, therefore walking side by side offers a more comfortable context for easing into the therapeutic conversation. Walk and Talk offers a choice for clients allowing you to experience a different type of physical and emotional space. Just being able to have this choice can be deeply empowering for some clients long before the benefits of nature and movement kicks in. Furthermore, if you suffer from low self esteem it may make you feel better about yourself as you are active, thus providing more confidence to share feelings. Walking is immensely freeing. Research has shown that movement facilitates the release of emotions. When you are overwhelmed with worry, moving can help decrease physical and mental stress. If you want to find out more about Walk and Talk therapy then please just email and we can arrange to have a chat to see if it is an option for you or not.
