About me

I have been practicing as a counsellor since I qualified 20 years ago in 1998, I also have degree in psychology.

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING.   After 20 years of practice I have a wide variety of experience in all sorts of issues, including depression, worry and anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, stress, anger management, relationship issues, bereavement and loss, serious illness and other lifestyle changes.

COUPLES COUNSELLING.  I have been working with couples throughout my counselling career.

in 2001 I started the counselling service at a small local hospice, and I managed that service for 10 years.

Currently I work in private practice and have done for 10 years and I am also a tutor, teaching the 2nd and 3rd years of a counselling diploma course, training counselling students.

I have been an accredited counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy since April 2005 and a senior accredited counsellor since August 2012. This means that I have demonstrated to the BACP that I provide a competent, professional, ethical and independent practice and that I abide by their standards, ethics and guidelines.

As a senior accredited counsellor with the BACP I am required to have ongoing supervision and I see my supervisor on a monthly basis. This ensures that I continue to work ethically and professionally with all my clients.

As a senior accredited counsellor with the BACP, I am required to continue with my professional development and education so I regularly attend workshops and training days and read extensively on the subject of psychotherapy and counselling.

I am also trained to supervise counsellors.

I can offer appointments during the day and I work Monday to Friday and Sunday morning.

I charge my clients £50 per session of 50 minutes.

I also offer a 30 minute assessment session for no charge, for those wishing to chat with me before starting counselling.  This is an opportunity for us to meet each other and to discuss what your issues might be and how we might work together and how counselling might help. There is absolutely no obligation to enter into counselling with me after attending the assessment session.

My fees for counsellors' supervision are £50 per hour and £60 for one and a half hours
