Hi, my name is Debbie and I am a qualified counsellor and Physiotherapist working with clients face to face in a private practice in Thornbury Near Bristol (BS35 2AH), I also offer sessions on Zoom and telephone.
I work with individuals in a Pluralistic Approach which incorporates different modalities such as Cognitive Behaviour therapy, the psychodynamic approach, humanistic approach, each approach is tailored to meet the individual needs of the client.
At the heart of the therapy is the Person-Centred approach which values the client as being central to the therapy.
How can counselling help you ?
Making the decision to come to counselling can be a difficult choice and it can feel overwhelming, I will be part of your counselling journey as we work a long side each other as you explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviour which will build on your own abilities and understanding about yourself and how you can change these.
I am passionate about supporting people through their difficulties so that they can move forward in their lives. I believe that by offering clients a safe space to talk, which is non-judgemental, empathic will give clients the potential for their individual growth.
I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society and work within their ethical principles, values and good practice. I work for a low cost counselling organisation supporting clients with a range of mental health issues.
I have worked with a variety of clients who have brought a range of issues to counselling including clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship and family problems including struggling being a parent, trauma, abuse, self-esteem and confidence.
Special Interests
I have experience in working with clients that have experienced domestic abuse and how this can impact on them and the range of emotions and uncertainties they face. Whilst adapting to the change, loss and sometimes shame.
I have experience with working with parents or new Mum's or Dad's that are struggling with being parents ' Its ok to talk about the range of emotions that you can face being a parent without feeling a sense of guilt'.
What to expect in the first session ?
The room is calming and nurturing for you to feel at ease as I want you to feel relaxed as we get to know each other at your own pace. I have a calm approach and I will give you the time and space you need
